Sport Management

Laboratory for Sport Management

The Laboratory for Sport Management aims to provide an environment in which graduate students are actively engaged in research with other graduate students and faculty members. This opportunity gives the students the ability conduct quality research that contributes to both the established disciplines within sport management (e.g., marketing, management, organizational theory, organizational behavior) and the emerging interest areas that examine management in sport through a social justice lens (e.g., gender, race/ethnicity, diversity, work and family balance).

The graduate students associated with the laboratory are gaining valuable teaching experience with undergraduates in classroom settings as well as serving as resources to them outside the classroom through individual instruction. The students are being prepared to be experienced, well-qualified educators in the field of sport management who can successfully engage future sport managers in the pursuit of knowledge.

The other major component to the graduate student’s success is the student’s ability to plan, promote, and provide valuable services through service learning and the use of sport at the UConn campus and in the Greater Hartford area. This is accomplished through the Laboratory for Sport Management and a collaborative partnership with Husky Sport.
